Title: Down the road to Robe
Post by: Taffey on Jan 24, 2023, 10:28 PM
Here are the details. Check-in window will open at 11:30am and close at 12:00pm Noon Australian Central Daylight Time.  If you're coming from the East, ACDT is 30 mins behind. From the west, legend, no doubt have all of the timing stuff well in hand.

Riders are encouraged to participate under the 1000km or 1200km in 24 hours rules; meaning the ride window opens 12:00pm Noon Friday and closes 12:00pm Noon Sunday and you must complete your 1000 or 1200km ride within a 24hour window inside that window. But there is no pride lost if you just want to pootle over from wherever for a lesser ride to say, "G'day".

GZ is for the moment small linear parkland at the water's edge opposite The Robe Hotel, 6 Mundy Terrace, Robe SA 5276.

The corresponding/mirroring Facebook page if that is preferred is https://fb.me/e/2AFadOyLv

Hope to see you all there...(https://farroad.au/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F%26lt%3Ba%2520href%3D%26quot%3Bhttps%3A%2F%2Fimgur.com%2FpSGc7Ve%26quot%3B%26gt%3B%26lt%3Bimg%2520src%3D%26quot%3Bhttps%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FpSGc7Ve.jpg%26quot%3B%2520title%3D%26quot%3Bsource%3A%2520imgur.com%26quot%3B%2520%2F%26gt%3B%26lt%3B%2Fa%26gt%3B&hash=32f4299dfa32263472c89c024a6f5787316e4fba)

Hi Guys,

Here's the info of the FB page for you.

Robe Customs House Museum: coordinates -37.162780, 139.755370

SATURDAY, MARCH 18, 2023 AT 11:30 AM

More details to follow - but set aside the 18th of March for a Ride over to Robe in SA. Not much on that weekend so people wanting to overnight have plenty of accommodation to choose from.
I am heading down early next month to case out a venue for lunch.

Nothing else has be put up.

I'm unable to attend as I have other things happening in March.

That will work. Let's plan the ride.

I've just realised my 6 weeks of medical restrictions don't expire until the Monday after this ride.  Bugger, I was looking forward to making this one, the first of a new era.

Hi Taffey

I'm coming from Brisbane so will probably start the 1000ks around Condoblin on 17th as per the departure rules and complete the ride all going well in Robe between 11.30am and 12 noon.
See you there.

How do we let someone know that we are going on the ride?
Not on face book

I suggested that the ride should be created on Ridemaster, like Carsten did for the Tassie ride.

Afternoon all , hearing the odd mixed messages . Or I'm  just not getting my head around it .
Can someone please clarify ,
Is the March 18 , "Road to Robe "  ride a GTR .
Or actually a registered ride , with names , distance credited start and finish location , steed ..( bike) ..  options of completing your nominated distance at check in , or half out , half back within the 24 hrs of ride and checkin day ...in the traditional FR way
Cheers
Roy

Take a few minutes to sit by the lake at Lake Cargelligo as you pass through.  It's a bit of an oasis in the Australian outback.

Hi Roy
Whilst I have no official position in FarRoads, just a rider, the way I see it is that the South East iRode #2 is a Farroad iRode ride.
It may also be a Facebook GTR ride, for non Farroad riders.
As an iRode ride, the Farroad rules will apply - see location and checkin times in Taffey's post #6 on 19 February 2023 in this thread above.
Don't forget that times are in Australian Central Daylight time (ACDT) which is 30 mins behind Eastern time (AEDT).
The 3 rides available for Farroad riders are the
iRode 805/12
iRode 1000 and the
iRode 1250
The rules for each ride are listed in Kwaka's post
https://farroad.au/forum/index.php/topic,33.0.html

I understand that the registration process is being worked on at this point of time by those capable people in the back room.
Hopefully there will be details on how to register for the ride posted on this forum by early next week.
So start planning your ride to arrive in Robe by 11:30am ACDT on 18 March 2023 (cutoff time is 12 noon ACDT).

Cheers
Philmor

Taking a 2 or 3 day tour from Monday March 20 .

First of all sorry for the lack of response - crazy busy with too many irons and fires and then there is work.

For this one, I plan to come and entertain those that just come out for a little jolly and those that want to do an organised 1000/1200 ride. So I will be flexible and afterwards publish somewhere appropriate lists of those that formally 'finish'.

So I will grab some names from this list of responses as my guide to how many are coming and go from that.

See you in Robe to those that are coming.

Roy - on this one, do as you please is my tip. For Streaky Bay, I will set up a formal registrations process and it will be clearer.

Okay - I won't be coming back to this forum until after the ride now, so if you want to let me know you're coming, please text me on 0418825333.

I have booked for lunch for a number that is large enough to carry the current numbers and if necessary we can add for any late comers.

If you want to advise me you have had a spot of bother on the ride and won't make it, then text me on 0418825333. If you strike a problem and you need help, I cannot guarantee I can help as I am participating myself, but two heads are better than one right? So drop me a line or give me a call.

Safe riding to all participants.

Hello

A quick ride report and while there were few in number, from FarAway most came. We had Cornelis out of WA (although I think he may have been moonlighting in Adelaide), Vlad from Sydney (two trips the the SA South East in a week - impressive), Ian all the way from Brisvegas and me, from the Adelaide Hills.  All arrived early with appropriate documents in hand completing as follows:

Me - 1000.8km
Ian - 1044km
Vlad - 1099km
Cornelis - 1035km

Check out the Vid - https://youtu.be/am6bvOxRuvs

Cheers All 8)
