Greetings Farroaders of NSW, Victoria and South Australia

So I have been looking at the calendar for next year and between the Southern Cross Long Distance Riders calendar (see in our events calendar), the IB Muster (presumably mid March), the Memorial Ride(s) in September, School Holiday avoidance and my own activities calendar, I am looking to organise three rides again in 2025. And I would appreciate any feedback or alternative ideas (although one is going to be set in stone - read below).

Moulamein - 29 March 2025
The last two years I have organised a ride to Moulamein in NSW in March and May. If I were to organise this again, allowing for the Muster and a personal commitment in Canberra on the weekend 22-23 March, I was thinking either a return to Moulamein on the 29th (good for me as I will be heading home) or a new location in Central Victoria or even in the high country.  Let me know your preference...

Blinman - 28 June 2025
This one is set in stone. For as long as I am organising these rides, I plan to do a late autumn/winter excursion to Blinman/Flinders as it is just a magical time and a magical place to visit.

Where I can be flexible is around an alternative date for Blinman.  31 May 2025 has potential, so let me know if this date works better, noting that on the 29 June 2025, there is a marathon in Quorn that may affect people's plans accommodation wise if they are planning an extended trip to the Flinders.

SW Victoria - 1 November 2025
Finally, the third and final ride will be back to SW Victoria and I am thinking perhaps a return to Apsley or further east towards Dunkeld, but would also be open to other possibilities such further south for example, the ride into Cape Bridgewater is amazing.

Let me know your views.

Cheers

I like your ideas Taffey. Booking them in early and avoiding other ride dates will certainly make it easier for planning.

Moulamein- sounds good. Food was good there. Could also look at Post Office Hotel in Maude, NSW. The bridge over the Murrumbidgee River looked like it would be worth a visit on its own.Unfortunately it was replaced last year.

SW Victoria- As an option instead of Apsley is Harrow. A bit further east. I passed through there earlier in the year. Fascinating little place. Home to Johnny Mullagh (Unaarrimin) who toured England as part of Australia's test cricket team of Indigenous players in 1868. The place was overrun with European wasps however. Pub looks good and gets good reviews online.

Blinman- I missed this last time but keen to get there.

Thanks Taffey. I think all suggestions above are great.
I may have travelled through Moulamein, but don't remember and I've definitely not been to Maude. Harrow is a lovely little town and I've been to an Ozstoc RTE at the Hermitage pub and no complaints with either the food or accommodation. I'm with you wrt Blinman and the Flinders.
I must admit going deep into Victoria holds some trepidation for me, purely because IMHO Vic country roads tend to be the worst with regards to potholes, crumbling shoulders and maintenance. It wouldn't stop me doing a ride but they really are a disgrace!

Always wanted to go to Maude and never have. I think Maude Post Office Hotel it is!  And Harrow looks the quintessential destination.

Thanks for the tips.  I think we have a lock!

I don't think I saw any cockatoos. Maybe they were just attracted to you. ;)
