July 6, 13 and 20, are school holidays in South Aus. Very popular time for families to visit the Flinders Ranges so maybe scrub them.
Same for 28 September, 5th and 12th October but they may or may not be as busy.
I'd be keen earlier, 4th or 11th of May. I have a Yamaha S10 now so keen to try it out on a FarRode.
ZigZag
I'd be a starter on May 4.
Ah - in there interim period, I have been invited to a run out to Burra for the weekend; So, while the force may be with most, it won't be appearing in Blinman, at least for this crowd.
But note that May is the running favourite at the moment, there may be a run later in the month. The poll has a few more days left, so will see who else gets on it before calling a date.
But
@Large would there be a May date to avoid?
Cheers
David/Taff
The only issue I can see with May on any other date other than the 4th, is I wouldn't be able to make it..... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Taffey, I'm out for the 18th. Birthday celebrations. Keen for another date.
What about June 1?
I've yet to show up for one of these rides and would love to. 1st June looks promising.
Nothing in the calendar yet so I'm in.
Quote from: Large on Apr 22, 2024, 12:22 AMNot for me, will be OS.
Curious - When do you get back?
May has filled up unfortunately and June is full too. So I am going with one date in July not in the school holidays. This gives plenty of time for folk to plan.
So July 27th
David
I've just registered for July.
Gentlefolk,
My wife has independently purchased tickets to the festival theatre on the 27th of July - ASO playing Hans Zimmer - for my birthday. She made some vague references to that weekend and I made her confess.
It means I need to change the date of the Blinman Ride. I will write separately to those that have registered already, but I plan to roll it forward a fortnight because one rider has another commitment the following weekend.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused and hope you can still make it.
Early days yet but if you are looking at doing any dirt to/from Blinman...

There's been a heap of rain in far north SA and SW QLD>
I'm heading to Hawker on Monday for a couple of nights. I'm going to ride to Blinman and back on the Tuesday. I was going to explore some of the roads through the Flinders while up there but maybe not. I'll let you know what its like up there.
Yes, keeping a close eye on things. Might be a up and down trip.

I rode into Blinman today from Hawker with a few short deviations along the way. The road, sealed all the way is in great condition. A lot of the dirt roads on either side are wet and there is a bit of standing water on them which made them slippery. Vehicles have been using them so some are also cut up by 4wds.
I spoke to a guy who rode into Blinman with his son on enduro bikes while I was there. They had ridden the Glasses gorge to Parachilna gorge loop and said the road had recently been graded and was in great condition. Some of these roads are still only open to 4wds. Not sure what it will be like in a few weeks for the Blinman ride. It's very green up here too which is an indication of the rain they have had.

Thanks for this; greatly appreciate the intel.
Yeah. Keeping an eye on the road status and just more than a little concerned that some enthusiastic 4wd'rs may have gone in too early and wrecked the roads. But fingers crossed though that the back way to Yunta is traversable.

Bummer, I'm out again, work roster has changed. Have fun and ride safe.

Darn it! I have left you registered in the ride, but found this new feature where I can mark you as a will/did not start, so should a miracle occurs and the roster changes again, I only have to amend your status back to ready to ride meaning you won't have to register again.
Cheers

Thanks, but definitely out.....
:'( you'll be missed :'(
