First IRode for 2023 in Tassie.
Hi all. First IRode for Tassie done. My usual two amigos Fatty Mick and Matt couldnt make it unfortunately. Left home at 7, docket for 7.09 am, headed to Queenstown, did a U-turn at the Wayatinah township turnoff and backtracked 40 mins and back onto Queenstown for lunch. Predicted rain turned up and had a couple of hours of wet going north, enough to confirm the wet weather pants are as useful as fish net stockings. Turned left at Burnie to Smithton, dodged some black clouds and rode home to Hobart in beautiful 22-24 degree heat, blighted only by our ridiculous amount of roadworks at 40 km/h, with driviers thinking even that is too fast. Home at 9 pm for 1003 km. Thanks.
Great stuff Carsten, and congratulations on being the first of a new era. Great to see IRode's up and running.
Aren't rain pants a joke!? Unless you pay thousands for Klim, Aerostitch etc, they all leak at the crotch. It's the seams there. I postpone the inflow with a liberal application of rubber cement in the region, helping to seal the stitch holes. I also note that the tension in the region caused by throwing your leg over then sitting stretches the sealing layer on the fabric which then leaks.
Top work Carsten.
