Come and Try a SaddleSore 1600

This event is designed specifically to support riders attempting a SaddleSore 1600 for the first — or near first — time, using the recognised Iron Butt Association (IBA) standards. An entry fee will apply to cover certification and patches, with full event and registration details to be released closer to the ride date. This is not a race; it is a structured, supported opportunity to learn the process, understand the discipline, and experience what a genuine 1,600 km ride within 24 hours really involves.

Support, structure, and a proven route

Riders will complete a set course with designated check-in points, gathering evidence along the way through photographs and maintaining a ride log in accordance with Iron Butt ride rules. Participants may ride independently or choose to join a group led by an experienced SaddleSore rider, offering guidance on pacing, documentation, fatigue management, and decision-making.

The route has been carefully chosen to balance interest, flow and logistics — passing through the Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, across to the Yorke Peninsula, then turning back through the Riverland and the Mallee, before the final run home via the South Eastern Freeway to Port Adelaide.

Long-distance riding done properly — supportive, disciplined, and confidence-building.
