Clearly we have a lot of history, together. It would be good to obtain a copy of all the LD riders from Davo #1 and their (our) rides in the past. The list is clearly available, but can we get it duplicated to this forum fairly and reasonably?

So we can go on with the right numbers and rides? Or should we start the list again - which would be a pity given all the stories and history.

Three questions
1. Do we have an official agreement to use it, or is it just available in "commons"?
2. Do we have a tag to it, from the menu bar or some other place on the front page?
3. Under the new system of numbering (a good one I would say) will we have a similarly developed page of attendees at future Far Road rides?

All good questions, Olly.  kwaka has the official answers, but he's flat out with his work for a few weeks, so we're on our own.
Ghostie and his apparent successor have entered into no agreements about anything that I'm aware of.  Baz will be able to say on what basis he has incorporated the dB.  Many of us grabbed the webpage before it was taken down, so it's almost "Public Domain".
I don't see a link button on the Home page, but I'm sure that will happen in due course.
It would be my hope that the attendees at future official rides will be recorded in the continuation of the adopted database.  Naturally, some of the FarRoad members would rather see a fresh start of everything.  They would possibly comprise 30% of those commenting- that's a wild guess.

Biggles, I would also like to think that all rides shown in the old database would be included with future official rides in the new database with a "soft line" drawn as at 31 December 2022.
Given their stringent verification system, I would like to see all IBA certified rides included in any new ride database, including those IBA rides since 2016, so long as they were not already included as an old "FR List Ride".
Yes, there are now a few other LD ride groups, but to include them is maybe complicating the future Far Road ride database.

I am not sure at this stage if Kwaka was intending to create approved Far Road "long rides" such as those previously included as "List Rides".
That would allow riders to obtain recognition for their rides where they could not attend official Far Road events - e.g. weekend workers that ride mid week.

Yes, we seem to be on the same page, Philmor.  Ghostie had, in recent times, stopped allowing IBA rides to be added to one's distance total, saying they're already recognised elsewhere (i.e. on the IBA database).  I asked him was he going to go through and flip everyone's IBA rides to "blue tag" and he ignored me, for some reason.
I'd also hope Far Road will have an equivalent recognition to the old FR12/18 system to encourage riders to report on their rides- listing was contingent on posting a Ride Report, with photos.

I agree Biggles. This is a forum and is based on riding and writing about riding and reading about riding. Apart from official rides where a hundred of us turn up to say g'day I think it should be compulsory for a ride report to accompany each rider's independent ride (pics included) for it to be 'listed'.

On that I recall two threads of note from the FarRider Forum. The first was when Clint and Ghosty initiated the "List Rides". Clint made the comment that many forum members simply sent him a copy of their IBA certificates and he was compelled to enter them on the main Black pages list. But he was disappointed at the lack of any interest those riders had in telling the tale of their recent ride. A forum like this and ride reports aplenty is how we can all learn from each other, whether that be in bike set-up, route planning and execution or how to get into and/or out of tight spots along the way. So the rule to ride then write and have 3 riders read then write a nod of approval before it was listed was born. The LR12 and LR18 did not require the latter. I don't think the 3 nods of approval are necessary, but I don't make decisions here.

The second thread caused lots of debate and we lost a great rider from THAT forum: Wombattle.

The rules were written, the ride was ridden to the rules, the report was written to the letter of the rules and the ride was disqualified. Many may reacall the "Left, right, left" thread or something similar when Wom rode and wrote about a mega ride in the minimum words possible. My take on that was that that particular rider having posted so many fabulous long and winding tales previously nailed that report. In context it was perfect.

I hope that when we all start to rustily saddle up and get back out there that we can take the time to tap out a tale of the ride while the sights and sounds and smells are still fresh in memory so that the rest of us behind the computer screens can appreciate and learn from that rider's ride.

A report like that should get listed.

I'm not sure about all the qualifiers etc, but encouraging ride reports is a good thing. Hopefully a few of us will put up something after the last WA Farride tomorrow.

Does the "three likes" rule still apply? Or if one person posts and one reads, does it stay up?

Goodonya for doing something that revitalises this Forum!
It's up to The Powers That Be whether that old criterion applies.  It was always contentious when people did enjoy the read but didn't click "like".  I sometimes felt like PMing one of them and saying it would be helpful if...
